SiO2 Marked Surfs display a grid allowing precise localization (better than 100µm) of nano-objects prior to AFM, RAMAN, XPS, SIMS...experiments. They consist of 20x20 cells (cell lateral dimension: 400µm) with coordinates. These cells consist themselves of a framework of 3x3 subcells having a lateral size of 100µm located by a binary notation. The grid, approximately 30 nm in thickness, is visible with virtually any and every optics such as video cameras, binocular, optical microscope... Two arrows visible with the naked eye enable one to orientate the Surf the same way from one manipulation to the next.
