NPR: Safety of Nano-Cosmetics Questioned
“Morning Edition, March 13, 2006 — Andrew Maynard doesn’t wear makeup. But lately, buying beauty cream and lip gloss is part of his job. Maynard is the science advisor for the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The center has just put up a new Web site with a searchable list of 212 commercially available nano-products. Thirty-one of those products are cosmetics.”

It’s trendy with venture capitalists, and it’s at the heart of major industry and university research centers. But how is nanotechnology covered in the media? Does the press propagate nano-hype?
