"AgActive Anti-Bacterial Towels use the latest advances in nano-technology to get rid of germs. Inside AgActive Anti-Bacterial Sheets and Pillowcases are minute particles of silver. Moisture ionises these particles, and the ions kill any bacteria and fungi they come in contact with."

'AgActive was established in 2003 to bring some of the exciting advances in the emerging nano-technology industry to the general public. One specific technology, known as Silversure was of particular interest to us. This cost-effective technology allows for minute particles (nano-particles) of pure silver to be embedded in plastics and fabrics with the effect that they become bacteria, virus and fungus resistant. Our first products were "antibacterial socks" which we launched on television in June 2005. These socks, using the Silversure technology, are highly effective against foot odour. We are now major suppliers of antibacterial socks to stores and online customers throughout the world. Since that time we have extended our range of products to include bedsheets, towels, and a very highly-effective, chemical-free antibacterial spray. We are constantly working on new products and aim to become the “supplier of choice” to retailers, distributors, armed forces, hospitals and other customer groups through providing excellent quality products along with quality advice and outstanding customer support.''

'This paper will explore the field of nanotechnology with a concentration on its application for functional clothing with stain-proof and bacteria-fighting capabilities. Recent developments in nanotechnology as well its value to, and future in, the clothing industry will be discussed. The impact of nanotechnology on related areas such as cleaning and conservation will be evaluated. Finally, potential environmental and global economic concerns in regards to the commercial use of nanotechnology will also be considered.'' ''Nanotechnology has significant value for the clothing industry because it is relatively new technology that could fulfill the demand for long-lasting clothing that requires less care. Bersica Futurewear manufactures clothing which is highly stain and liquid repellent. The company provides a nanotechnology-based finish on clothing that effortlessly repels water and oil and offers greater durability. Functional clothing reduces the need for washing which saves money for the consumers and conserves our limited resources '' Zhiyuan Yu, Ran Wang (2011)
